"...They are stunning - it's been emotional looking through them. They are amazing, thank you sooooo much" - Katie
I've always wanted to write blog posts about some of the Weddings I have the pleasure of photographing - I won't be posting about them all, not to say that some are more important, special or note worthy than others - I just don't have time!
This being the first of these I'd like you to think of this post like a lemon cake. Not a lovely lemon cake you might buy from a bakery or supermarket, but rather the one purchased at your local school summer fete - all the characteristics of a cake are there, but its just a bit too tart, a bit too much sugar, a bit too lemony. What I'm trying to say is that this post is probably going to be far from perfect - unlike the couple featured's day - good segue!
So, meet Katie and Tiff. Two lovely young ladies who celebrated their Wedding day this Summer on the 8th of August at the Mansfield Manor Hotel in Mansfield. The hotel is one I've shot at many times and it never fails to deliver whatever the weather. There are just so many opportunities for some epic shots!
My involvement on the day started at Katie's parents' home for Katie's Bridal preparations which she enjoyed along with her Bridesmaids and Usher. Now, before we go on I must include that Katie and I go way back as we actually went to primary and secondary schools together. This genuinely added a personal touch to the day to me as I already knew one of the Brides and had met with the two of them for a few consultations so had had chance to get to know Tiff a little bit too.
I then went on to meet Tiff along with her Bridesmaids at the venue where guests were starting to arrive. The stage was already set for what would shape up to be a beautiful day in the sunshine. The Wedding took place in that sweet spot over the summer where we actually had a 'summer' to speak of - blue sky, warm weather, late evenings. About as close to perfect shooting conditions as you can hope for during the British Summertime.
A classic VW Camper by the name of Lilly was tasked with transporting Katie and co. over to venue. I always love to see a beautiful Wedding vehicle as it gives me the opportunity to get a bit creative (I basically see them as giant toys to be positioned and photographed)
The couple chose a vintage style throughout their day dressed in lace and pearls with bouquets of wild flowers, roses, and gypsophila wrapped in hessian.
The ceremony itself was great - with plenty of giggles and whispers between the pair. The best kind of ceremony where the couple seem to forget anyone else is even in the room.
The day just went on from there with laughter and fun reigning supreme. The guests enjoyed the sunshine on the terrace of the hotel along with their champagne before enjoying their Wedding Breakfast and evening disco. Katie and Tiff were such a pleasure to work with on the lead up, on the day itself and since. Thanks ladies for making me feel so welcome - it was an honour and privilege to share in and capture your special day.
